Purpose
ADDING ACTIONS, MULTIPLYING RESULTS
We are a non-profit organization – ONG – that articulates economic and technical strategic actions and objectives between the National Government, private sector, guilds, municipalities, professional recyclers, upstream industries and communities. These actions, intend to guarantee that materials remain inside their life cycle as much as possible throughout the implementation of activities related to circular economy: redesign, reuse and recycle. In 2025, we’ll be the main technical reference of circular economy’s impact on Colombia and the region thanks to self-awareness and cooperative work with our allies. We intend to leave a mark on our country’s sustainable development.

**Con quiénes hemos trabajado
During the 70’s, due to the exponential growth of Asia’s production, people started worrying over industries’ residues inadequate disposition. Out of this, the need to recover these materials was born. In fact, they found out that not only could they give these materials a second use, but that this way of thinking could be incorporated into their whole production processes. Because of that, companies decided to create an organization whose sole goal would be to work towards the accomplishment of this goal.
This call to action was promptly received in Latin America, and countries such as Uruguay and Brazil created their own organizations 29 years ago. In Colombia, this process took a bit longer, but in 2009 CEMPRE was funded.
At the present date, we have long term programs with wide impact that accompany our value chain’s members. Aside from that, our intervention doesn’t focus solely on an actor, but on the principle that there are breaches that must be closed through a circular model.
After 14 years, our purpose is strong and keeps evolving.

Cooperative work
Implementing a circular economy model has shown us that teamwork helps us achieve greater things. By having more resources and ideas, we are able to change more lives and work faster in the transition towards a sustainable model.
Measuring what we do
Without data to evaluate an economic model, there’s no way to know whether things are being properly done or changes must be done. Because of that, part of our role is to quantify how every action gets us closer to our main goal.
